ACCESSIBILITY ⌠FOR DOGS?
- Earth Rated, a Canadian dog brand, takes accessibility to a new level with the introduction of new dog-friendly brandingâŚusing colors visually accessible to canines.Â
- Accessibility, in this case, pairs human ergonomics with doggy needs: both the ball and frisbee are finished in yellow, so theyâre easier for dogs to see, catch, and find in the grass.Â
- "We designed from the outset with simple geometries, single materials and simple manufacturing processes. That keeps costs down at scale, but challenged us to think of ways to improve product archetypes without adding extra complexity."
GESTURES IN SPATIAL COMPUTING
- To date, the complexities of 3D software come with a notoriously high learning curve. Mixed reality designer Davide Zhang suggests that incorporating hand gestures into the UX of spatial computing software may be the ideal way to overcome this learning curve more quickly.
- In addition to a more intuitive form of interaction, hand gestures also help us to think better, communicate more effectively, and remember things more easily ⌠which may be key when it comes to gaining more widespread adoption of spatial technology.Â
- âAt the center of this emerging spatial medium is the question of interaction: what is the best way of interacting with this medium and how do we evaluate it?â
SUCCESSFUL ITERATION GOES BEYOND AGILE
- To be truly agile in software development, we need to prioritize learning about what customers really want and use design methods to experiment and deliver value effectively, rather than just rushing to release software.
- One of the key success metrics of the agile framework is âtime to shipped code,â which tends to put the emphasis on the ability to produce solutions. Designer Pavel Samsonov suggests that a better success metric may be: âtime to customer value.âÂ
- âThe skill of drawing is making thousands of pencil marks and erasing all but a few of them.â â Joana Weber
